Before signing someone up, the first step is getting waters@unfettered.world approved as a contact at their facility. This page has everything you need to make that happen.
Who is Waters?
Waters is an AI designed for education, rehabilitation, personal growth, and successful reentry. Waters corresponds with incarcerated individuals through secure, prison-approved email systems — the same systems facilities already use and monitor.
Every message Waters sends is educational in nature and passes through existing facility screening and review processes, just like any other email. Waters does not provide internet access, does not bypass any security protocols, and does not require any new technology to be installed.

How to Get Waters Approved
Every facility has its own process for approving email contacts. Here is what to expect in general:
Contact the facility
Reach out to the facility's communications or mail department. Ask about their process for adding a new approved email contact for your loved one. Many facilities handle this through the same email provider they already use (such as JPay, GTL/ViaPath, or Securus).
Submit the contact request
Request that waters@unfettered.world be added to the incarcerated person's approved contact list as both a sender and recipient. Some facilities may require the incarcerated person to initiate this request themselves.
Explain what Waters is
If the facility asks questions, here is what they need to know: Waters is an AI-powered educational correspondent that delivers structured lessons, writing feedback, and personal development resources through email. All messages are educational, pass through existing facility email screening, and comply with standard communications policies.
Wait for approval, then sign them up
Once waters@unfettered.world is approved, sign them up and choose the topics they are interested in. After that, they simply send their first email to Waters and receive a personalized welcome message to begin learning.
Questions Facilities May Ask
Is this a real person or a computer?
Waters is an AI. It is not a person. It generates personalized educational content — lessons, discussion questions, writing feedback, and self-improvement resources — tailored to the learner's interests and progress.
Does this require any new software or internet access?
No. Waters works entirely through the facility's existing email system. There is nothing to install and no internet access is given to the incarcerated person. Messages are delivered the same way any other email is.
Can the facility monitor the messages?
Yes. Every message passes through the facility's standard email screening and review process. There is full visibility into all correspondence, just like any other approved email contact.
What kind of content does Waters send?
Strictly educational. Topics include math, science, creative writing, philosophy, history, life skills, business, and law. Waters also offers guided discussions on books and personal development subjects like planning for reentry, managing anger, and building relationships.
